  • Sena Park
Sena Park’s work is developed as the artist adapts to the place and atmosphere of where she is staying at the time. Park observes the surrounding environment through her personal perspective, and every fragment of her experience becomes a source that feeds her art practices. Rather than having a well-planned progress, Park enjoys and utilises spontaneous incidents. This body of work is embodied in various forms including painting, drawing and installation, keeping a balance of colours, textures and the variety of materials used. Sena Park was born in Seoul, Korea and lives in New Zealand. She graduated from the University of Auckland with a Master of Fine Arts in 2015.

In 2020, Park completed an artist residency at Karekare House, Auckland after returning from another residency at the Swatch Art Peace Hotel in Shanghai. She was selected to take a part in the 5th Land Art Mongolia 360o Biennial in 2018 and awarded a Merit Award for the Molly Morpeth Canaday Award in 2019. Currently, her neon work ‘Annyeong’ is exhibited in the window at Te Uru Waitakere Contemporary Gallery. Her recent exhibitions include Aliveness_Symbiosis_on K-rd, RM Gallery and Project Space (Auckland) in 2021, Attitude towards encountering nature, Corban Estate Arts Centre (Auckland) in 2019, and the Karekare Artist Residency group exhibition at Pah homestead (Auckland) in 2021.
